You probably know that there is oil in your engine. Most people do. You probably also know that you need to change your oil every so often. Most people know that too. However, not all drivers know just what their oil does, or why changing it is so important. At Team Ford Lincoln, we're here to clear up any misconceptions you may have about your vehicle and its oil.

An engine is composed of many different moving parts all working together. If you quickly rub your hands together, you'll generate friction and heat, and parts in your engine are the same way. While friction and heat are great for keeping your hands warm in the winter, they can damage your engine, cause it to overheat, and even cause to to break down! Obviously, nobody wants that, so what are you supposed to do? That's where the engine oil comes in. Oil lubricates and cools engine. It keeps the parts moving and helps prevent them from overheating... but it doesn't last forever. Your oil breaks down over time, becoming worse and worse at what it does. It's important to change your oil every six months or every 7,500 miles to keep your engine healthy. How can you do that? Just schedule an appointment with our service center, and we'll take care of the rest.
