For too long, drivers in the market for a midsize Ford pickup truck were out of luck. Fortunately, those days are at an end, thanks to the all-new 2019 Ford Ranger. The 2019 Ford Ranger may be new, but it's already one of the best on the market. Ford has over a century of practice making pickup trucks, and no matter what size truck they produce, it's consistently one of the best.

The Toyota Tacoma is certainly a quality midsize pickup... that is, unless you want to put your truck to work. The 2019 Toyota Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds when it's properly equipped, and it can carry up to 1,620 pounds. By contrast, 2019 Ford Ranger has a maximum tow rating of 7,500 pounds, and it has a maximum payload capacity of the 1,860 pounds.

The Chevrolet Colorado is also a decent midsize pickup, and like the Toyota Tacoma, it also comes up short when compared to the 2019 Ford Ranger. The standard engine in the 2019 Ford Ranger puts 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque at your disposal. The standard engine in the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado only produces 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque.
